On Friday, 5PA students took a short break from our conversations about conflict and change related to The Hemulen Who Loved Silence by Tove Jansson and participated in a team building challenge for the last few minutes of class. Odd One Out asks students to analyze four different items. Students look at their numbered picture (if the student is number 3, they look at the 3rd picture), and determine if "I'm In!" or "I'm Out!" and why. |
| Students share their individual rules with their teams. Collectively, teams determine a common rule to use to share as a team. The goal is to have a rule that others teams have not considered. This was a fun and challenging activity that promoted critical and divergent thinking, as well as collaborative conversations! Try This! River Cave Man Watch Some students shared... "The cave is out, it is the only one without an arm." or "The watch is out, it is the only one that doesn't have a mouth." "The river is out, it is the only one spelled without the letter A and has two syllables." |
