This week, 5PA students were introduced to our "Thinking Cap" capstone project that will be developed throughout the school year. The capstone project gives Project Arrow students the opportunity to envision a positive change in a global system. Students will explore their own passions and talents, and will develop an action plan to implement the change. Students began the process by exploring their passions, talents, and interests. Students developed a word cloud to visually organize their ideas. Their word clouds will be helpful focus tools to bring them back to their passions and interests as we progress through the process of finalizing a research topic. |
Next, we viewed the video below from inspiring speaker, Kid President:
"Doing nothing is a great way to change nothing." -Kid President. |
Students considered their passions and interests and what they are "not okay with". This allowed students to begin considering what challenges or issues "breaks their heart" about their passions. This is an important step in guiding students to consider a way they can make a positive change.
Although we spent the week kicking off our capstone project, we will begin our regular schedule next week of having our capstone days on Fridays. I encourage the students to continue considering their passions until then and possibilities for the change they would like to plan for this school year.
